5 Man Spread Motion Offense by Bob Huggins Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Bob Huggins (Rental)-5 Man Spread Motion Offense $19.99
Open Practice: 5-Man Spread Motion Offense West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins does not like his players to be robots. That’s why he coaches a free-flowing, open-post style of offense that allows his players freedom to make plays. In this video, Coach Huggins, who is approaching 900 career wins, shows you how to build this type of offense with individual and team breakdown drills. In an open practice setting, you will see the West Virginia motion offense, as well as some set plays, in action. Positional Drills: Posts Post players begin by going through over 11 individual drills that emphasize moves (jump hook, drop step, etc.), screens (roll vs. pop), and duck-ins. Posts also work on their shooting from 15 feet and in working on shots they would most likely take within the motion offense. Post players then work the Reject, Backdoor, and Post drills to work on cuts from the corner to the wing, setting screens, and executing back door cuts to the post. The drills also incorporate perimeter-based actions with inside opportunities that will be available in the motion offense. Positional Drills: Guards Individual guard drills emphasize over 14 different shot types. Guards learn to improve the catch-and-shoot jumper from inside the arc, catch-and-shoot jumper from outside the arc, pump fakes, 1-dribble pull-ups, and more. The idea is to build a repertoire of moves and shots that not only benefit themselves, but also their teammates. All the guard drills are partner-based and involve a ball handler driving down the center lane from half-court. The guard executes a move to set up a drive and kick to a teammate before relocating and receiving a pass from a coach for a shot of their own. The drills are done at game speed and focus on shots guards would take within the motion offense. Motion Offense Coach Huggins puts it all together with the Straight Line Cuts and 5-on-0 Backdoor drills. Both work on technique, spacing, and timing within the motion offense. Players learn to get open while filling the next spot or going backdoor against a defensive overplay. You will see how the playbook opens up even more as the motion offense flows into flex sets, 1-4 sets, and single and double screen situations. The segment ends with a full-court 5-on-5 session where Huggins stops play to instruct his players on the errors in spacing, timing, and decision making. In addition, Coach Huggins breaks out the whiteboard to draw up his 3-man screen-the-screener action that can be run within the motion offense. Coach Huggins is considered one of the masters of the open-post motion offense. This video gives you an inside look at how to build that offense from the ground up and achieve success within your own program.

Bob Huggins: Full & Half Court Pressure Defense by Bob Huggins Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Bob Huggins (Rental)-Bob Huggins: Full & Half Court Pressure Defense $18.99
Bob Huggins: Full & Half-Court Pressure Defense West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins is the master of pressure defense and shares with you system in this video. Huggins has over 850 career wins and has taken his teams (Akron, Cincinnati, and West Virginia) to 24 NCAA tournament berths. He has done it largely because of his relentless full-court pressure defense. In this video, Huggins gets into the details of his defense, how it developed, keys he uses with his players, and drills that he uses on a daily basis. Press Philosophy For Huggins, pressure defense is all about effort and activity. You will hear Huggins talk about how to encourage players to play with maximum effort. Coach Huggins will show you how the principles of half-court defense are extended into the full court. One of the most basic principles in Huggins’ system is forcing a ball handler to go to his weak hand. Another is making big post players dribble. Huggins likes to expose weak ball handlers. His defense does not give up any space and pressures opponents for all 40 minutes of the game. Players must pressure the ball at all times, deny inbound passes, and look for trapping opportunities. After a made basket, Huggins’ players immediately find their man and deny them the ball. Disrupt Spacing Offenses are based upon spacing which can help provide direct passes that lead to good shots. Coach Huggins’ defense forces teams to pass over, under, or around, but never through. Forcing passes that are not direct translates into poorer shots for offenses. Huggins believes in fronting the post to force lobs which take time and allows for the defense to rotate and get into position to defend it. Trapping Huggins makes all of his players constantly look for traps. Defenders force the ball to lines and give help defense in line. This leads to trap situations and also prevents direct drives to the basket. Players are taught to never play with their hands down. When they do, they are easier to screen. 4-on-4 + 1 Drill When you press and trap, you are going to have to play at a disadvantage at times. To prepare for those situations, Huggins uses this drill which he demonstrates for you. In 4-on-4 + 1, the defense plays at a disadvantage. The defense must rotate properly and pressure the ball to take away direct passes. Those playing help defense are on the help line and defenders one pass away are in the passing lane. Q&A Session Huggins finishes the session with a question and answer session. He is asked about pressing on a miss, trapping on a ball screen, and much more. If you are looking for a defensive system that can really frustrate opponents, Coach Huggins’ DVD is for you.
Defensive Drills For Creating Turnovers by Bob Huggins Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Bob Huggins (Rental)-Defensive Drills For Creating Turnovers $19.99
Defensive Drills for Creating Turnovers Nothing can turn up the heat on an offense like pressure defense. In this drills for creating turnovers video, West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins opens the doors to one of his defensive-focused practices where you will see how he builds both his full- and half-court defenses. Huggins is well known throughout the nation for his pressure defenses that lead to turnovers and easy points. His defenses throughout the years have been a big part of his 765 career wins. Using whiteboard diagrams, lecture, and practice footage; Huggins describes his philosophy of defense and takes you through many of the drills that help develop his style of play. Defensive Philosophy Coach Huggins discusses spacing first showing how to cut the court in half, shrink space for offenses, and how doing so enables trapping areas. You will hear Huggins speak of the traits his players must have in order to play good team defense. Coach Huggins prefers an up-the-line/on-the-line style of defense which is known to disrupt an opponent’s attack, take away vision, and now allow direct passing lanes. You will also hear about the Mountaineers’ approach to defending the pick and roll, when to trap, how to defend an inbound pass, scouting, rebounding, and toughness. Up-the-Line, On-the-Line Drills For Huggins, help defenders must position themselves between the passer and their man. Huggins teaches this skill through several variations of break down drills that teach proper angles on close outs and 1- or 2-pass positioning. Using 2-on-2 drills with the help of an unguarded manager, Huggins shows the proper angles defenders must take in order to deny direct line passes. Players in Huggins’ system learn to push the ball to the sideline and off of the 3-point line. They also learn to deal with back-door cuts. Eventually, the break down drills progress to 4-on-4 where players work on proper positioning and help defense. This group of drills culminates with the 4-on-4 +1 drill that puts the defense at a disadvantage forcing players to scramble and communicate. Position Specific Drills Huggins breaks down drills for individual positions. Perimeter players work on close outs and applying maximum on-ball pressure. Post players go through five different drills designed to improve their on-ball defense. The 1-on-1 Fast Break Drill challenges post players to protect the rim against an attacker operating off a full speed dribble. Full Court Pressure For Coach Huggins, diagramming the press is something that is difficult. He bases his press on taking away what an offense does best and exploiting weaknesses. You will see five drills including the Flick Drill which teaches players how to create fast break opportunities by forcing a turnover with a back tip to a teammate. Post players work on playing up the line to deny flash cuts by players up the sideline. You will also see back line defenders shifting from denial defense to intercepting passes as help defenders. Posts also work on defending the rim in a 2-on-1 situation trying to force an extra pass. All of the drills in Coach Huggins’ 111-minute video are designed to help you raise the pressure of your defensive system and force more turnovers. Rent this drills for creating turnovers DVD today.

Full Court 1--3--1 Trapping by Bob Huggins Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Bob Huggins (Rental)-Full Court 1--3--1 Trapping $15.99
Huggins' defense was born out of necessity in the early stages of his career. It is a regular part of Huggins' program. This defense is introduced by player-by-player assignments. The goal is to split the court in half, from basket to basket. The defense will keep the ball on the same side as the offensive player once it is on the other side. Ball pressure is a key factor in keeping the offensive player away from throwing skip passes or reversing the ball. A 5-on-5 zone drill with slides is shown. Huggins moves the zone press up to the floor making it a full-court attack. It is crucial to keep the ball inbounds once it is in the court. The ball is not in the hands of players who are away from it. They must be on the line and up to the line so that the ball does not cross the area. There are two ways to play this full court trap: a regular or a speed them up approach. The goal is protected, anticipated, or trapped by the players. Each of these duties can be broken down into multiple teaching points. 53 minutes. 2007.

Set Plays for Motion Offense by Bob Huggins Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Bob Huggins (Rental)-Set Plays for Motion Offense $18.99
Set Plays for Motion Offense With over 800 career wins and numerous Coach of the Year awards, West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins has put together an offense that is tremendously hard to defend. His offense features a positionless, open post attack with lots of cutting and ball reversals that consistently dissect opposing defenses. In this video, Huggins shows you how he adds a variety of actions to his motion offense. The result, of course, is a high-powered scoring machine that rivals anyone in the Big 12. Motion Offense Fundamentals Before Huggins gets into the different set plays for motion offense, he makes sure that you understand the offense first. You must first be able to teach the 5-out motion offense. That includes proper spacing, cutting, and filling within it. Coach Huggins reveals how he teaches his players to keep proper spacing in an effort to create scoring opportunities. Actions to Score With proper understanding of the motion offense, Huggins then continues into some of his favorite motion actions. The traditional pass and cut action can be turned into a screen away to place the offense in a position to curl to the basket for an easy score. If overplayed, a slip screen may also be used. With a flex cut, Coach Huggins shows you how ball reversal and a screen away can create action on the backside. In addition, players can look to step off the lane line and set a flex screen which creates an easy open layup. For those looking for some continuity, Coach Huggins reveals the T-Game or Triangle. You will see how using a flex cut gets you into a triangle on the opposite side of the floor. Once set, you can use cross screens or down screens to open up scoring chances. When the ball reversal isn’t open, Huggins shows you how to use a dribble hand-off to either drive to the basket or get the ball reversed so you can continue the offense. If defenses continue to deny the ball reversal, Huggins gives you an option using a flare screen off the dribble hand-off. Ball Reversals and Post Feeds In the final segment of the video, Huggins shares how to incorporate the post players within the 5-out motion offense. Posts will cut and hold in the paint before moving to the perimeter. Huggins shows you how you can get the ball inside, especially on a ball reversal, at any time in the offense. This 66-minute video covers the hottest offense in basketball, the 5-out motion. It is an attack that is efficient and has the ability to generate multiple actions and, more importantly, many scoring opportunities. Learn it from one of the game’s best. The 'dive & Fill' Zone Offense by Bob Huggins Instructional Basketball Coaching Video
Bob Huggins (Rental)-The 'dive & Fill' Zone Offense $15.99
Bob Huggins' zone offense targets the highest-risk area of the floor, the high post. To make the zone's core work, this offense employs the "dive-and-fill" method. Coach Huggins shows the basics of the offense using four players in this clinic on the floor. The high post, short corner, and wings are the main areas of the floor. The guard is a key position for the high-post player. The offense is able to win a 3-on-2 advantage when the ball reaches this area. Basic alignment is a 2-1-2 with the most active, best player at the high post. Huggins demonstrates the three-man rotation at the baseline when the ball's direction is inverted. This is a great feature because it allows a 3-point shooter to be free in the corners. Huggins shows how Huggins can get the ball to the high post or to the open shooter on either wing. Huggins also shows how to make space for a lob to the rim. Huggins demonstrates how to create mismatches in the zone once the action has become 5-on-5. There are three options: the ball screen, the corner action, and the dribble pull. 65 minutes. 2007.
