    Philosophy

    In each practice session, you’ll hear Krzyzewski explain his coaching philosophy as it pertains to Duke’s offense, defense, transition, and more. He shares some of his ideas on player roles, how to select captains, building team camaraderie, and more that you can use in your own program.

    Defense

    Coach K begins the defensive instruction with a walk-through. He details and demonstrates how his players should communicate on defense. He also explains the why behind the communication. Coach K also shows his players how to guard ball screens, how to personalize the defense depending upon the opponent, and how big men can draw charges.

    Offense

    Next, Coach K moves to offense where he addresses key fundamentals and player responsibilities. He identifies how players should stretch defenses physically and mentally and how to create a number of different scoring opportunities.

    Coach K’s assistants – Collins and Wojciechowski – go into great detail on Duke’s offense. Collins covers 13 actions and quick hitters that can be used against man defense. Wojciechowski then details the man offense with a goal of creating opportunities to play inside-out by screening, posting, and creating overloads.
