Imagine if you could practice against Golden State Warriors’ very own Kevin Durant, every day for a whole summer. How much better do you think you would get?

If you worked on your offensive moves every day vs. Kevin and then went back to your normal level of competition how easy would it be for you to dominate?

The reality is, as your players grow (in both height and skill), they might one day end up facing players that tower over them so getting them prepped right will give them confidence in front of even the tallest players.

But how can you do that at home or during practice without having to pay Kevin Durant’s 23 million salaries to come train with you and your players?

The best tool you can get to simulate going up against a tall player is with the Defender Extender pads I use all the time in my coaching sessions.

Let me share with you everything you need to know about drills that go hand in hand with the defender extender pads to help improve dribbling and offensive moves in a safer way for your players.

Learn this and it will become your secret weapon against any tall player you face in the future.

The best drills you can use the pads for are killer finishing moves and taking shots higher so players can get used to taking their height into account when they take a shot.

The Defender Extender pads are going to allow you to teach your players how to shoot high off the board so they can get any ball past even the tallest player.

Here are some great drill ideas you can use with the Defender Extender basketball training pads:

  • Dribbling – Have a partner use the Defender Extender pads while you bring the ball down the floor. Your defender quickly has the wingspan and reach of an NBA guard. You will really learn to protect the basketball and utilize changing speeds to overcome the increased reach and quickness of the defender.
  • Offense Moves – Whether in the post or driving to the basket, playing against a taller, longer, and more athletic player will require you to outsmart them to beat them. Once you become inferior athletically, you must become superior mentally if you are going to compete at that level.
  • The Defender Extender basketball training pads are perfect for any age. Just adjust your hands on the sticks to change your wingspan. They are made of very soft material and it does not hurt to get hit with them so they are also good for contact drills.
