    Bill Self’s Offensive Basketball Playbook

Bill Self is one of the premier college basketball coaches in America. His Kansas teams have won 15 Big 12 regular season championships. With 700-plus career wins and a national championship in 2008, Self was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017.

In this video, he reveals his 2-Game and 4-Game attacks that have made the Jayhawks one of the best offensive teams in the country. You will get a look inside the full offensive package at Kansas including the transition attack, set plays, press breaks, and two zone offenses.

    Skills and Offensive Approach

Kansas starts practice with a number of position-specific skill development drills. Watch has Self describes what he wants from post players and from guards in a 2-on-2 breakdown drill in which players screen on the two-side of Self’s motion offense.

Watch as Self shows you how to flow from transition right into the half-court attack. Self explains why he doesn’t like the secondary break and instead goes right into the half-court offense.

Next is a full-court press break. Coach Self’s press break is unique in that players do not run through a scripted sequence. Instead, they use a set of principles to guide them through the break. Using a 7-on-5 drill, players are challenged to advance the ball against the press.

Self places a big emphasis on half-court offense. He uses a whiteboard plus on-court demonstration to show you how to counter post traps and get easy scores. You’ll also see the Jayhawks go through five of their quick hitters in a 5-on-5 situation.

    Attacking Zones and Inbound Strategies

Self shows you how to attack the zone defense with a perimeter-oriented lineup. Guards learn to flash to the high post and simultaneously stretch the floor with movement around the perimeter. You will also see a more traditional zone attack with two post players.

In addition, Coach Self teaches how to manage timeouts and he shows you a series of sideline out of bounds plays that can transition right into your half-court offense. There is something for everyone in this video from one of the game’s best coaches. Rent this basketball offensive playbook DVD today.
