Cone Sweeps will help you play in straight lines instead of playing at angles. If you can go right at the defender, you are harder to guard because the defender has to make a decision on which way to play you. Cone Sweeps will teach you to go right at the defender and use your hands to help you punch through the defender. Using the cones makes you get low and be explosive. In the screenshot above, instead of leaving the key point to your imagination, we take the time to add the visual effect so that you can see exactly what Jason is explaining.
Using cones has become popular with many trainers and coaches, but one thing Jason points out that is many people use them incorrectly by allowing players to hunch over and have bad posture. Jason emphasizes keeping your back straight so you are efficient in your moves and using training tools correctly. .
Which is better? The Crossover or Between the Legs? Jason breaks down each move to see which one covers more ground and when to choose which one to use.
Jason shows the game application of each dribble move so you know why you are practicing the moves. It's not just a bunch of drills to fill time.
CUT BACK DRIBBLE
The defense wants you to play in angles. As an offensive player you want to play in straight lines. Jason will teach you how to have your players make a straight line cut back dribble after they have been cutoff. Don't let the defense win!
Jason will teach you how to shoot on balance as well as get shots against bigger players. Jason gives you multiple footwork drills to work on shooting the ball on balance.
Here is another visual effect that breaks down the drill so you can see the components of it. Most of the drills feature some review with visual effects to make learning easier.
A very important skill for point guards is to be able to turn corners. Being able to turn corners off the dribble will help you beat players off the dribble and best utilize ball screens. You must be able to handle the ball low to the ground and keep your balance.
ANGLES TO STRAIGHT LINES
Penetrating in straight lines put the defense at a big disadvantage as help defense can't come across but has to come up, which leads to easy dishes and kick outs.
Included are drills that you can do by yourself in the gym to work on using angles to straight lines.
