What offense am I going to run? How am I going to teach it? Will it be too much for my kids? Will we actually be able to run an offense?
Whether or not you have coached youth basketball before, Complete Youth Offense provides simplified offenses that both the coach and player can pick up quickly. The offenses promote team play and fundamental skills of basketball. Your players won't just be learning to go to "spots" but will actually learn to play and think the game.

The Motion Offense is broken down into pieces and built up so it can be easily learned by your young players. Creating space on the floor is key to running a successful offense and this offense will keep your players spread on the floor.

If you face teams that play zone this section of the DVD will prepare you team to find all the open spaces on the court. The goal of this zone offense is to keep the floor spaced, move the ball, and create easy scoring opportunities.

There are quick hitters you can use for both the motion and zone offenses. These diagrams along with slow motion video aid in learning the quick hitting plays. The quick hitters will put you right into your offense if you don't get a scoring opportunity so you don't have to "Set it up."
Breakdown drills are used to build up the offenses so your players can learn the components of the offense. In this zone offense clip, the drill is teaching the players to reverse the ball to the open player for the jump shot. Not only are the players learning the offense they are working on their passing and shooting skills.

The Transition chapter starts out with breakdown drills with just two players and works up to 5 players. The transition break will flow seamlessly into the motion offense so your kids wont' have to "Set it up."
After your players become comfortable working the break without any defense, you'll then add in defensive players to make the drills gamelike. |
Coach Erickson covers the secondary break as well as the primary break. As your players progress all five players will become a threat on the break.
Your fastbreak will flourish with Coach Erickson's drills to build the break piece by piece.
